Dr. Kyjuan Brown to Speak At PLP Luncheon
Dr. Kyjuan Brown will be the guest speaker at the Progressive Labour Party [PLP] 48th Founders’ Day Luncheon & Drum Major Awards this coming Sunday [Feb 20]. The event will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel, and honours the Party’s founding fathers.
Dr. Brown, who is a member of the first graduating class of CedarBridge Academy, received his Bachelors degree from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia; and his Doctorate in Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine, in Grenada, West Indies. He is now pursuing his MBA at the University of Liverpool.
He currently practices as a Family Practitioner at Hope Health Care. In addition to this role, he is also the President/CEO of Ultra Concepts Group of Companies, a consulting company that assists small and medium-sized businesses to become profitable and increase efficiency.
Dr. Brown is also a Certified Associate Business Manager of the American Association of Professionals in Business Management as well as a member of both the Caribbean College of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Brown currently acts as Consultant Forensic Medical Officer for the Bermuda Police Service, is Chairman of the TCD Medical Reference Committee, and a Medical Member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal, as well as a Member of the Educational Appeal Committee.
A PLP spokesperson said: “Dr. Brown is just one of the many young people who has chosen to fly the PLP flag. He and many other young members are examples of the multigenerational support that the PLP receives.”
The afternoon’s events will also see a skit written and directed by Bermudian playwright Patricia Nisbett, and performed by CedarBridge Academy students paying tribute to the Founding Fathers of the PLP.
An additional feature of the luncheon will be the presentation of the Drum Major Awards. These awards are presented annually to people who unselfishly give of their time to our community. They are nominated by the branches and members of the Party. This year’s recipients are Mr. Sam Maybury for Tennis, Dr. Melvyn Bassett for Education, Mr. Kenneth Bartram for the Duke of Edinburgh programme, Ms. Marlene Smith for Community Service, and the Bermuda Police Reserves for their dedication to community safety.
