Paco Fubler Jailed For Theft Offence

February 21, 2011

paco fubler bermuda 237-year-old Paco Fubler, on parole for previous offences, was this morning [Feb 21] returned to jail to serve out the balance of a thirty-day sentence just imposed for a theft offence.

Mr Fubler had been in Police custody since February 11th, so he will have less than 3 weeks to serve before being released.

Mr Fubler had pleaded guilty to stealing a set of keys belonging to Clearview Guest house last month. In his defence, Mr Fubler said that: “I took the keys. I don’t know why I took them. I haven’t got the nerve to go around doing that all that stuff anymore. I’ve been doing good.”

Pleading for mercy, Mr Fubler said: “I ask for mercy. It’s a stupid mistake.”

His Probation and Parole Officer spoke and said that Mr Fubler did not have a job but was meeting all other parole conditions.

Recognizing Lawyer Craig Attridge’s position that, under the circumstances and given the history, while a custodial sentence seemed appropriate, that sentence should be short. Magistrate Wolffe sentenced Mr Fubler to thirty days with time spent in custody to be recognized.

Separately, from an incident and arrest on 8th February 2011, Mr Fubler was also charged with receiving stolen goods. To this charge, Mr Fubler pleaded not guilty and he will, later, face trial.
