Regiment Prepares For “March Madness”

March 15, 2011

The Bermuda Regiment is gearing up this week for Exercise March Madness, which will take place at Morgan’s Point this coming weekend [March 18/19]. All Regimental personnel will be required to participate in this exercise, which is designed to test readiness for deployment on the 2011 annual overseas camp.

A spokesperson said, “The focus of March Madness is on Internal Security Operations, which is one of the Regiment’s potential tasks, and is therefore one of the primary aspects of training scheduled for the 2011 Overseas Camp. Troops will participate in an exercise scenario designed to test command and control at all levels, and provide the degree of realism necessary to accurately portray these types of operations.”

“Members of the public should therefore expect to see Regimental vehicles moving between Warwick Camp and Morgan’s Point throughout the weekend. Marine traffic should also be aware of Regimental vessels operating around the Annex. In the area of Morgan’s Point, the public can expect to hear the firing of blank rounds and simulated explosions. Flares will not be used for the exercise.”

Surely it’s a health hazard to sleep at Morgan’s point overnight considering all the trash piled up there…it’s beginning to resemble a pyramid.

Free our soldiers, fix the Tyne’s Bay incinerator

    Thanks

Good points however the Regiment is allowed to do anything without any public scrutiny. It’s a one size fix all program since the 1960s, almost like the public school system. Only when Bermuda establishes an appropriate ‘national service’ program will we see social injustice decline.

Maybe it just takes a few ‘soldiers’ to be bitten by ‘rats’…
