Man Charged With Handling a Gun

March 15, 2011

31- year-old Jahcai Daniel Morris returned to Magistrates Court this morning [Mar.15] to face a charge of handling a firearm. The prosecution is alleging that between 7th July 2010 and 9th November 2010, Mr Morris handled a firearm which the Prosecutor described as a Ruger 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

Defended by lawyer Victoria Pearman, the Prosecutor asked that Mr Morris be remanded into custopdy pending trial on the matter. The Prosecutor said that the alleged offence was one which gave the Court little leeway in the matter of granting bail.

Following a lengthy submission by his defence counsel, the Magistrate remanded Mr Morris into custody.

Mr Morris had been charged, the day before, with four counts involving aggravated burglary, theft, taking a car without the owner’s consent and driving while disqualified. For these offences, all of which had taken place on 20 February 2011, he had been bailed for $10,000 with a like Surety with a re-appearnance on 28th March 2011.

GPS, many just don’t get the longitude of their fleeting lifestyles. As for the lattitude well thats the irony. It’s ups and downs can confuse many.

Why do some people like to handle guns more than books? Maybe that’s why life is so hard for them. They act dumber than someone eating ice cream underwater!

Daren Dizzle, now days these guys have guns for protection. They have them because the need them not because they want them (this gun violence is an official cycle). So may you need to get shot or be shot at and see if your books will protect you.Even the brightest people make silly mistakes.

@Honesty. You only need a gun if you’re doing dirt that will make other people come after you. I had a gun pulled on me once almost 30 years ago. Ambushed on the streets in East Orange, NJ. If I had a gun it was no time to take it out. I plan on getting some legally in the States but in Bermuda it’s not legal to own or carry. Bermuda is in no way as dangerous as Newark, East Orange, Irvington or Trenton to name a few. I go around all those places and never needed a gun yet. I found that when I just hung in the streets and on the corners trouble would find me. Once I learned to keep it moving, keep a job, keep a family and keep away from certain people I’ve remained pretty safe. I never had a problem in Bermuda walking all around town by myself. St Georges to Court Street to Dockyard chilling. It’s only you guys who are at war with each other for no good reason that need guns to settle problems. Only Black Bermudians are running around in paradise killing each other like rabid animals. If it’s so bad there how come no other race in Bermuda is carrying on like this?
