Three Vehicle Accident in Loyal Hill Area

loyal hill bermuda police[Updated] Just before 4pm this afternoon [Mar.9] there was a three vehicle accident in the North Shore, Devonshire area by Loyal Hill.

The accident involved two auxiliary cycles and a car, and both bike riders were injured; one sustaining a head injury.

Police were on scene, and blocked a section of North Shore off as they investigated the accident. Traffic was temporarily diverted, however the road was fully re-opened before 5pm.

A Police spokesman said, “Around 3:55pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Loyal Hill. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however it apparently involved two auxiliary cycles and a car.”

“The two auxiliary cycle riders were injured; one sustaining a head injury. However, their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the scene while officers assessed the incident before the road was re-opened. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Update March 10: Police statement, saying the 17 year old bike rider sustained a head injury and is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit

Around 3:55pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and Loyal Hill Road in Devonshire. It appears that two auxiliary cycles and a car collided in the area. As a result the two auxiliary cycle riders, a 17 year old young man from Hamilton parish and a 16 year old young man from Hamilton parish, were injured.

They were both taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The 17 year old sustained a head injury and is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit while the 16 year old sustained injuries to his arms & legs which are not considered serious. The driver of the car, a 44 year old Devonshire woman, was not injured.

All three vehicles were damaged. Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the scene while officers assessed the incident. Inquiries are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Anthony Smith on 295-0011.
