Bermuda Win Two More Carifta Medals

ashley berryBermuda’s track & field athletes continue their fine form, picking up two more medals at the Carifta Games, with both Ashley Berry [pictured/file photo] and Dage Minors putting on medal winning performances to push the island’s medal count higher.

Bermuda had already won two medals, as Kyrah Scraders and Justin Donawa winning bronze medals during the first day of competition in Jamaica

Ashley Berry – the highest ranked 3000m athlete in the region – won a Silver Medal during the girls 3000m. Zakiyyah Showers narrowly missed a medal finished 4th with a time of 11:09.72.

Dage Minors won a Bronze Medal competing in the boy’s 3000m, clocking 9:15.21 in finishing third.

Victoria Clarke has reached the Under 17 Girls 200m Final after clocking the seventh fastest qualifying time of 24.66, meanwhile Tyra Stovall finished 14th with a time of 25.36. Kyle Webb missed out in the Under 17 Boy’s 200m Final when he finished 11th overall with a time of 22.53.

Competing in the Under 20 Girls 200m Dash, Shawnae Brangman finished 11th overall with a time of 25.22, while the Under 17 Boy’s 4x100m Relay Team finished 4th with a time of 43.11. Allison Outerbridge finished 5th in the Under 20 Girls Triple Jump with a leap of 11.73m.

Jaquan Hartherley finished 9th in the Under 17 Boy’s Shot Put with a throw of 11.25m, while Kyrah Scraders has reached the under 17 Girls 800m Final after recording the 7th fastest qualifying time of 2:19.55.

Shaquille Dill has reached the Under 20 Boy’s 800m Final after clocking the third fastest qualifying time of 1:57:59 winning Heat 2.

Chas Smith finished 4th in the Under 17 boy’s High Jump with a leap of 1.85m, while Jeremiah Steede recorded a No Height to finish 7th. Meanwhile Jeneko Place’s time of 22.04 saw him miss out on a Under 20 Boy’s 200m Final place when he finished 11th overall, while Jer-Quan Symonds finished 14th clocking 22.21.

Bermuda finished 6th in the Under 20 Boy’s 4x100m race with a time of 42.23, while Tyrone Oswald finished 15th in the Under 20 Boy’s Long Jump with a leap of 6.06m, Christian Wright finished 16th with a leap of 6.03.
