Photos: Old Boy’s Football Game

April 4, 2011

This past weekend [Apr.2] the clocks turned back as some of Bermuda’s old school football players took to the field at the Somerset Cricket Club for the R.O. Smith Veterans Over 40 Match.

The host Somerset Trojans went in front early on when Jerry Webb scored, however this was canceled out in the second half when Charles Wade equalized for St. George’s Colts.

Dwayne Richardson then gave Somerset a 2-1 lead before Michael Corday scored to make it 3-1. Cal Raynor bundled the ball over the goal line with some five minutes to go to make it 3-2, but the East Enders could not find the equalizer they went in search of, and the game ended 3-2 in favour of the Somerset Trojans.

Stop it regarding the Corona league – while there is no dispute that football in the seventies, very early eighties and prior was loads better, the Corona league is simply a bunch of guys that can no longer / could never play, having a beer.. Let it go boss!!!
