Victor Scott Field: Good Friday Service
The year after tragedy struck during a holiday celebration on the Victor Scott school field, almost 100 people gathered at the same spot to celebrate Good Friday today [Apr.22]. The service was attended by a number of representatives from different churches, and was organised by the One Community Unified group.
Last year, at approximately 2pm, Kimwandae Walker was fatally shot while on the same field attending a Good Friday kite flying event with his two young children.
Politicians in attendance this morning included Minister Michael Weeks and UBP MP John Barritt. The service featured prayers, music, as well as a religious reenactment.
Earlier this week, the Police said there would be a “robust policing plan” for the holiday weekend. This morning the Police Mobile Command Centre and uniformed Police officers could be seen at the Victor Scott School field, which was quiet by this afternoon.
