Fairmont Salutes April ‘Memory Makers’
The Fairmont Southampton on Wednesday May 18, 2011 recognized ten employees for their outstanding performance during the month of April. In a special ceremony held during the hotel’s All Colleague Luncheon ten Fairmont Southampton employees nominated by guests and coworkers for going above and beyond in their duties were recognized as “Memory Makers.”
General Manager for the Fairmont Southampton Norman Mastalir said, “Fairmont is committed to turning moments into memories for our guests. When a colleague at the Fairmont Southampton goes the extra mile in providing exemplary service to our guests, it goes a long way towards making their visit memorable. It is these simple moments that bring tourists back to Bermuda again and again.”
Mr. Mastalir added, “Particular note must be made of our two Star Colleagues of the Month; Mrs. Judith Smith of Housekeeping and Mr. Jo Jo Estorque from In Room Dining. From taking dozens of phone calls a day and always answering with a helpful answer, to walking the floors and keeping everyone in the loop, Mrs. Smith is known for her accountability, responsibility and always getting the job done on time and to high Fairmont standards.”
“Mr. Estorque has been recognized in the past for his contribution to the hotel and we are not surprised to see him receiving accolades once again. This month he has been singled out for his ability to adapt to an ever changing schedule and for his high level of professionalism. Both colleagues represent the summit of customer service excellence at the Fairmont Southampton.”
“I would also like to recognize the tireless and selfless sacrifice of Sous Chef Herbie Bascome. For many years, without pay and without being asked, he and his family have volunteered their time to create hundreds of kites for our Easter Celebrations here at the Fairmont Southampton. His intricate and remarkable handiwork has enriched the beauty of our property and brought joy to hundreds of children staying with us over the Easter weekend.”
