Smith & Jackson: NACAC Event In Jamaica

May 30, 2011

This past weekend Shianne Smith and Andrea Jackson competed in the 2011 NACAC Combined Events in Kingston Jamaica.

Shianne Smith – the Bermuda National heptathlon record holder – placed 10th overall with 4807 points out of 16 athletes with her best performance on the 2nd day where she moved from 13th place to 10. Andrea Jackson did not finish.

Bermuda Track & Field Association President Donna Watson said, “This was good for Shianne as this was her first full heptathlon for the season and a slight hamstring injury going into the event. Andrea unfortunately was unable to complete the event and I am not sure if it was due to injury.”

Jamaica’s Maurice Smith and American Emily Pearson were the male and female winners at the NACAC Combined Events Championships which ended at Usain Bolt Track, UWI, Mona on Saturday, May 28th.
