Ball Hockey Team Wins Pool B

June 23, 2011

Bermuda faced off against Cayman in their third match of the 2011 Ball Hockey World Championships in Slovakia, and the gam ended in a scoreless draw. Cayman needed a win to advance to the Pool B Semi-Final, and the draw resulted in Cayman being eliminated and Bermuda advancing to the semi final.

The game was hard fought with Bermuda getting the majority of quality scoring chances. Captain Chad Critchley rang a shot off the post early in the game and due to several man advantages Bermuda earned several more high quality chances that were either saved by the Cayman goalie or just missed the net.

The end result was a 0-0 draw as both goaltenders refused to give up a goal. Bermuda’s Player of the Game was goaltender Tony Fitzgerald, Bermuda have now won the Pool B Division and Cayman is eliminated.

Bermuda will now play Pakistan in the Pool B Semi-Final tomorrow night.
