BBFS Euro Star Goal-keeping Clinic Report
On Monday, June 20th and Tuesday, June 21st Bermuda Brazilian Football School [BBFS] in partnership with Euro Star Goal Keeper Academy of Canada, facilitated a Goal-keeping Clinic for 40+ youth Goal-keepers at the National Sports Centre.
The founder and director of the Goal-keeping Academy Director, John Moreira provided the training for three age groups; U7- U8, U9-U12 and 13 and over. Mr Moreira, a U.S.S.F National A licensed coach, worked on the four components of the GK position; Technical, Tactical, Physical and Mental.
The players in each group were put through various drills and taught the fundamental points of becoming a good goal-keeper. He also gave insight into the demands placed on goal-keepers, the importance of dedicated training, the value of education and maintaining a healthy diet.
Mr Moreira was assisted by 3 of Bermuda’s up and coming goal-keepers, Stefan Dill (LR University and BAA) Eunico Trott (St. George’s Colt’s) and Corey Richardson (St. David’s) who also participated in the advanced goal-keeping sessions. Each session on the final day was closed with a motivational speech by Mr. Moreira, encouraging the players to believe in themselves and work hard on achieving their lifelong goals.
