KPMG Staff Donate $18,000 To Red Cross

The staff of  in Bermuda donated $18,600 to benefit the disaster relief efforts of the Red Cross for both the Japan earthquake and the devastation left by the recent US tornados.

The funds were raised through a series of staff events, including a Casino Night, an office raffle and a hugely successful auction of items donated by Partners and Directors.

The funds have been allocated between the two relief initiatives, with 75% going towards aiding those affected by the earthquake in Japan and 25% allocated to the US Tornado Relief Measures.

“The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has been the leading contributor to, and coordinator of, the disaster relief efforts in Japan and the US following the widespread devastation, with the Bermuda Red Cross playing a key role in coordinating fundraising efforts locally” said Neil Patterson, Managing Partner at KPMG.

“I am gratified by our staff’s generous spirit in helping those affected and proud to be able to make this donation to the Red Cross on their behalf.”

KPMG Managing Partner, Neil Patterson, KPMG Partner and Red Cross board member Richard Lightowler and Senior Manager and organizer of the fundraising events, Rudy D’Cunha presented a cheque on behalf their KPMG colleagues. On hand to receive this donation to the Bermuda Red Cross on their behalf were Bermuda Red Cross Director, Ann Spencer-Arscott, and Disaster Manager, Petra Spencer-Arscott.

In response to the donation, Ann Spencer-Arscott said: “We are thrilled that KPMG have entrusted us with passing on these funds. Companies like KPMG make my job easier because they do all the work around organizing the fundraising activities and the Red Cross passes on the funds accordingly. KPMG’s commitment to their corporate responsibility on this Island and worldwide is to be truly commended.”
