Simmons To Umpire Challenge Cup In Brazil
With the news that Bermuda will be represented at the Pan American Hockey Challenge Cup in Brazil, Bernews can also reveal that Donovan Simmons will also be in attendance as an umpire.
The young Mr. Simmons will line up alongside umpires Lance Sarabia from USA and Oliver Hock from Brazil.
Mr. Simmons said, “This is indeed a honor for me to be umpiring at this level and I need to give a lot of credit to my step mom Emma Simmons,” [who umpired during the 2009 Pan American Women’s Championships in Bermuda].
“I would really like to make it to the 2016 Olympics, if not as a player I would like to be there as an official. I am hoping to become the first Bermudian male to get the necessary paperwork for me to move forward.”
