Kardias Club Donates $7,000 To PRIDE

Members of the Kardias Club presented a check for $7,000 to P.R.I.D.E. Bermuda to help the organizations ongoing efforts to support the island’s youth.

The Kardias Club – taking its name from the words kardia and kardiakos, meaning “heart”, is an established women’s group and registered charity #051 which has been supporting the local community since its inception in 1964. Today, the Club is made up of 26 women – friends, mothers and daughters, who continue to work in service to the community.

Over the years, through a series of fundraisers and the kind generosity of friends and sponsors alike, the Kardias Club has raised money to assist a number of local charities to achieve their goals.

Amongst the Kardias Club’s contributions to the island of Bermuda is the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII, the Packwood Home, Child’s Wish, Bermuda Autism Support and Education Society, The Family Centre, Fight for Life Foundation, Sunshine League Children’s Home, and The Bermuda Sloop Foundation (The Spirit of Bermuda), to name a few.

In 2011, the Kardias Club had a specific agenda that focused on charities with a service mandate to support the positive development of the youth in our community, and they were delighted to choose P.R.I.D.E. Bermuda to be their 2011 recipient.

The Kardias Club has witnessed the support and dedication that P.R.I.D.E. offers to Bermuda’s youth through programs, skill building and counseling. The members of the Kardias Club wish to acknowledge their great work and encourage P.R.I.D.E. and its many volunteers to continue to make a difference in the lives of so many.
