Pan Am Games Team Named

200px-Guadalajara_logo_for_the_2011_Pan_American_Games.svgThe Bermuda Olympic Association today [Oct.5] officially announced the names of the 14 athletes who will represent Bermuda in six sports at the XVI Pan American Games, which are being held from 14 October through 30 October 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico

Judy Simons, President of the BOA said, “Once again, Bermuda has assembled a strong team for the Pan American Games – our twelfth Pan Am Games – and we are looking forward to the competition. We know Bermuda’s athletes will do our country proud.”

She continued, “We are pleased that the BOA has been able to play a part in helping prepare and fund our athletes’ participation in such an important and high profile international sporting festival. It is gratifying for all of us at the BOA to be able to play a part in these athletes’ ongoing journeys to success.”

Bermuda first competed in the Pan American Games in 1967 at Winnipeg, Canada and has participated in all subsequent Pan American (summer) Games, taking home a total of 8 medals. Bermuda’s athletes will join approximately 6,000 others from 42 nations at the Guadalajara Games.

  • Flora Jane Duffy
  • Tyler.Butterfield

The above athletes, along with Chef-de-Mission Philip Guishard and officials, trainers and support personnel comprise the Bermuda team.
