Corona League Football held four games Saturday [Oct.22] at the BAA Field. St. George’s defeated the current Corona League Leaders BAA in the first match of the day. St. George’s Colts got goals from Rudell Pitcher and an own goal, while Damian Mendoza scored the lone goal for BAA. Final Score: BAA 1 St. George’s Colts 2
In the second match of the day, Junior Desilva put West End United ahead 1 – 0 before Ben Readdy equalized for the Flanagan’s Onions. Desilva scored his second goal of the match from the edge of the box with a left footed shot to give West End United the lead 2 – 1. Early in the second half, Keith Szmierek equalized for the Onions.
The Onions were awarded a penalty after a handball inside the box and Phil Anderson scored from the spot to give them a lead. Jimmy Caplice then got a forth for the Onions but DeSilva recorded his hat-trick when he scored for West End United with only a few minutes remaining. Final Score: West End United 3 Flanagan’s Onion’s 4
The North Village Rams took on Vasco in the third Corona League match of the day. The North Village Rams got goals from Leroy Stevens, Tafari Outerbridge and Kyle Lightbourne, while Vasco got goals from Rui Rocha and Rui Sebestiao. Final Score: North Village Rams 3 Vasco 2
In the final Corona League game of the day, Tuff Dogs faced off with Lobster Pot. Tuff Dogs got goals from Yusef Pitt, Kevin Hurdle and Jeff Franklin, while Vaughn Davis scored the lone goal for Lobster Pot. Final Score: Tuff Dogs 3 Lobster Pot 1
