St George’s Prepares For New Year’s Eve

December 31, 2011

Town Square in St George’s is buzzing with activity as the Town prepares to host its New Year’s Eve celebrations tonight [Dec.31].

The band is onstage setting up their equipment, smoke machines are being tested for the light show, the mechanical bull ride is being set up, food vendors are setting up and more.

The onion has been raised to the top of Town Hall, ready to drop at midnight, and a countdown clock has been placed on the stage.

“New Year’s Eve in the Olde Towne will take on an artistic vibe this year as Water Street becomes an outdoor photographic art gallery,” said a spokesman for the organisers.

“Local photographers will project images of their work onto some of Bermuda’s oldest buildings allowing visitors to the East End to walk through a gallery where images are evolving as they walk.”

The event is also due to have bouncy castles, face painting,  live musical entertainment, fire eaters, a bagpiper, a 15-minute laser light show and more. Many other events are taking place this evening at various places including the Fairmont Southampton, No. 1 Car Park, The Beach, Pier 6, Moon Nightclub, The Cellar and more.
