Police Detectives Donate To Rest Homes

December 22, 2011

This year, the officers in the Serious Crime Unit decided to forego giving and receiving gifts at Christmas time.

Instead, support staff member Ms. Monique Heyliger identified two worthy causes for some Christmas charity – the Lorraine Rest Home in Warwick, and the Francis Telford Nursing Home in Paget.

Donations were collected amongst the detectives in the unit, for a total of over $700, in order to provide the residents of these two homes with towels, soaps, wash cloths, bed sheets and other essential items for everyday living.

Chairman of the Board for Francis Telford Nursing Home Carlton Crockwell was on hand to receive one of the care baskets from Detective Chief Inspector Nick Pedro and Acting Detective Chief Inspector Jerome Laws of the Serious Crime Unit.

The officers expressed to Mr. Crockwell that the team members of the Serious Crime Unit thought that it was important to recognize the needs of others at this time of year.
