Shooting Victim Airlifted Overseas
The 24 year old gunshot victim injured in the shooting incident outside Gravity Nightclub on North Shore Road, Devonshire in the early hours of Saturday morning has been airlifted to the United States for specialist surgery.
The young man suffered serious injuries when he was shot multiple times in his back, shoulders and arms sometime between 3:15am & 3:25am.
A police spokesperson said, “Detectives are continuing their investigations into this matter. A number of witnesses have been interviewed and the scene has been forensically examined. CCTV footage from the area has also been seized and forms part of the enquiry.
“Detectives are still keen to speak with the patrons of the Gravity Nightclub who were outside the club around the time the shooting occurred. It is not imperative that witnesses necessarily saw the incident, although clearly that is of special importance to the enquiry team. Persons that were in the area still may be able to assist in piecing together events as they unfolded.
“It is important to reiterate that information received will be treated in strictest confidence, and measures are in place to assist with witness protection for persons that come forward to give evidence.”
The Serious Crime Unit can be contacted on 247-1079 or the independent Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
The victim was targeted. Best to him and his family.
That’s gonna leave a mark on your health insurance premiums next year.
Gonna have to have a 38 special supplement.
and who foots the bill? the taxpayers?
No, the victim or his family will.
I wonder if these thugs have their own group health insurance? Sure would hate to find out that taxpayers are funding the best of medical care when they shoot each other. You have to fight to get care for a senior but these guys get the best of care, no expense spared.
Am I the only one missing something here?
I agree with you !!!! something is so wrong …and thank you for your input . it seems like they are getting away with all sorts…and our so called leaders are allowing this to happen !!! can you imagine our Premier has people like Rolf Commisiong , and Walton Brown who will screw her in the end…because Doc Brown like it or not is still in charge of Bda.
real talk!
Judging by how common it is for these boys to not have a proper job of any sort would lead one to suspect that it would be uncommon for them to be insured in any way at all.
Too many of them just don’t understand the seriousness of not having medical coverage and I bet their parent(s) fail to tell them that they’re on their own by the time they’re in their late teens.
As far as the taxpayer’s responsibility goes … probably none at all , except for when they go for the compensation under the criminal compensation act .
I highly doubt that we the taxpayers would be paying for these bills. The reason I say this is because my elderly aunt had to be flown out of the island as she suffered several strokes with in one day.
We she arrived back on the island that is when we received a lovely bill of almost 100K for the air ambulance alone. She has put her self on a payment plan as a charity paid for the bill upon her return however she does have to reimburse them for the majority of the funds.
If I am wrong please correct me as really don’t want to be paying for others stupidity. I mean I know stupidity is free but not at my expense.
With mixed emotions I wish him a speedy recovery.. Hope these words don’t haunt us later.
For real ! God bless him in his recovery, Bless his parents and family. Understand everyones opinions, these are still people who deserve love and respect. We do not know what role in life this young men had, he is a child of GOD ! I for one try not to pass judgement ! God bless BDA !
So if its mixed than why be fake. Just don’t say it.
@ ^drifter ur a loser comparin paper 2 life u
Sorry… What are you talking about?
You all are talking and have no CLUE what the france you are talking about. And before you assume I am in no way related to him, neither am I any of his company. But based on facts and not beleiving half of what I hear, but what I see, he works and has his OWN insurance from his place of employment. So go lay down with the assumptions.
And you think that very expensive medical bills as a result of shootings or other non natural ailments have nothing to do with premiums for the rest of us????
What planet do you live on?
@ Triangle Drifter. Dammit!! On the same assinine planet you live on. There are legitimate sick people that require medical treatment more often than not that can/will increase premiums my dear. There are peoples lifestyle habits of smoking /drinking excessively and poor diets that will increase your premiums. You are quite the shallow thinker if you are assuming that this medical emergency alone will change the whole way the insurance determines premium increases. But I guess this is typical Bermudian behavior to kick a man when he is down. He worked and pays his insurance he is entitled to use it especially it it means to save his damn life. Are you serious. So my question to you what planet you live on?
All you people need to be quiet. You don’t know anything so stop assuming. All this negativity isn’t helping Bermuda. So just shut up. You don’t know him or anything about him.
You’re actually the one assuming by saying we don’t know him or anything about him. How do you know that? Bermuda is very small you know (I’m assuming that you do know, if not, my apologies).
“Triangle Drifter” your comment is really dumb, since when do taxpayers pay for people to be flown overseas? If you have insurance, insurance pays for a portion of it, or all of it depending on the type of insurance you have. If you don’t have insurance then you can apply to get monies from a Charity like the L.C.C.A. (which you have to pay back) or that persons family etc. Think before you make uneducated comments.
