Video: Surprise Proposal At Santa Parade
Chicago visitor Bob Kauffman didn’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree — all he wanted for Christmas this year was for Bermuda girlfriend Heather Turini to accept his wedding proposal.
Mr. Kauffman took the opportunity to propose to Ms Turini, who now works as a dental hygienist in the US, at the St. George’s Santa Claus Parade on Saturday [Dec.3].
When the parade was finished, the host pretended the gifts on Santa’s stage would be given away, and performed a mock draw, calling Ms Turini’s name as the first “winner” of the night.
Ms Turini came forward, and was asked to sit down. Then Mr. Kauffman took the microphone and said he “is the real winner, as he is getting the prize tonight.”
“Five years ago I looked into your eyes, and knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you,” Mr Kauffman said. “I prayed this day would come, but I had no idea it would be in St. George’s Square.”
With the crowd cheering him on, Mr Kauffman got the ring out of his pocket, and gave it to his girlfriend. Taken completely by surprise, the elated Miss Turini said yes.

I’m sorry, the first thing he says before he proposes is “Look at me when I’m speaking to you…”…. the second thing he said was “I want to change your name”…. the first thing she should have replied was a resounding NO!
