Wells Does It Again: Scores in UK

December 31, 2011

[Updated] Marking his fourth goal since signing with U.K. team Bradford City earlier this year, Bermudian Nahki Wells scored in the 30th minute of the game against Shrewsbury Town this morning [Dec.31].

Wells buried the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the net with a left-footed shot from the edge of the area.

The Bradford City live blog of the game said, “After eventually clearing a Shrewsbury corner, Syers releases Wells into space behind the Shrewsbury back-line with a searching ball forward before the Bermudian forward cooly dinks the ball over the diving body of Neal.”

This goal comes only five days after Wells’ last goal – which he scored on Boxing Day in the first two minutes of the game.

As of this writing, the score is 2 – 0, with the teams now at half time.

Update: The game is over, and Bradford City won 3 – 1.

I seem to recall that just a few weeks ago someone on your blogs was being very derogatory about our football players playing in the lower leagues in England. It’s great to see Nahki answering that criticism with his feet! He has great potential; he’s well on his way to proving that he has the ability to progress and reach the top level with his hard work and determination. Well done Nahki. We look forward to more goals from you in 2012 and beyond.

Congrats to Nahki on anther great game. THanks for also being an inspiration to other young Bermudian kids. Please, please don’t let the fame, and hopefully eventual wealth get the best of you.
