BDOT & Masterworks Host Tuesday Event

January 16, 2012

Starting tomorrow [Jan.17], the Bermuda Department of Tourism [BDOT] will join with Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art in hosting a “Champagne and Strawberry affair” at the Botanical Gardens art gallery.

The BDOT is encouraging visitors and residents alike to participate in the midday event which mixes art, music and fine cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere.

The art and culinary open house, which takes place during the remaining Tuesdays of this month – January 17, 24 and 31, from 1.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m. – is a precursor to the BDOT’s Feel the Love Month, which kicks off next month.

Each Tuesday, visitors to Masterworks will have an opportunity to meet a different chef and sample their flavourful offerings. And this free event is being held against the backdrop of a wonderful display of local and international art and great music being played by one of Bermuda’s top saxophonists, Desmond Smith.

Tomorrow, visitors will have an opportunity to meet and taste cuisines from Chef Tomasz Tabor from Victoria Grill and Chef Rod Gryffydd from Hog Penny.

On January 24, attendees to the gallery can meet and taste cuisines from Chef Suresh Amarathunga from Barracuda Grill and Chef Chris Mayne from Pickled Onion.

And on January 31, visitors to the museum can sample the culinary fare from the top Chefs from Waterlot Inn and Bacci, both Fairmont Southampton restaurants.

Adding to the Tuesday activities, Masterworks’ Creative Director, Tom Butterfield will provide a one hour tour of the gallery’s new collection and provide an historical overview of the museum.
