Coco Reef Hotel Wins Expedia Award
At an Expedia Partner Appreciation Event at the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas on January 21, Expedia Inc, the largest online travel company in the world, named Coco Reef Top Partner of the Year for Bermuda. The criteria for the award included room night production and growth over last year as well as proactive marketing approaches to the Expedia promotional campaigns.
Director and Owner of Coco Reef, John Jefferis, said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the hotel. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our sales and marketing staff who work with the Expedia team on generating increased sales for the hotel.
“While the economy remains a great burden on the hospitality industry worldwide, Expedia continues to offer a variety of marketing opportunities and I am grateful that we’ve been able to take advantage of them to generate revenue.”
Trish Korzeniowski, Market Manager, Expedia, says: “We would like to congratulate Coco Reef for its excellence in marketing and for capitalizing on Expedia’s broad reach and comprehensive promotional opportunities to extend its visibility and attract new travellers to the property. It has been a pleasure to work with Coco Reef to help grow bookings.”
Mr. Jefferis, a former President of the Caribbean Hotel Association, added: “Not everyone appreciates the fact that every first class hotel room involves the employment of at least 14 people through employees and product and service providers and that the basis for a successful tourism industry is a healthy and profitable hotel industry.”
In total, 21 awards were given out at the event including Top Hotel of the Year in each of Expedia’s top 10 markets, as well as Top Room Night Producer and Top Overall Partner of the Year.
The Bermuda Department of Tourism party held on January 21 at Nobu in the Atlantis Resort was praised by the tour operators who attended was the best event held during the Marketplace week.
Coco Reef Bermuda opened in 2004 and has 70 rooms situated on a spectacular beachfront location. The hotel features an award-winning atrium lobby, two restaurants with fabulous views and exotic private dining facilities
Is there anybody who DIDN’T get an Expedia award?
They have two left over and they don’t want anyone to feel left out.
family man , I think Lavern should get one of the left over expedia awards !!!!
Like Hollywood. Must be the award season. Just like a kids pet show. Everyone gets a prize.
“The hotel features an award-winning atrium lobby, two restaurants with fabulous views and exotic private dining facilities”.
You must be kidding…???
LOL. Epic fail.
SOOOOOOOO What is so exotic about their private dining facilities ? surely the awardees have never had a meal there .
Do ALL comments have to be negative? If this award attracts even one family of tourists then it’s great. Well done to all at Coco Reef
Wait until the Auditor General completes her audit of the Coco Reef lease agreement…may be a new award been handed out to Mr. Jefferis…
Unless they came expecting “exotic private dining facilities”. I’m afraid they will be sorely disappointed and will tell all of their friends that Bermuda is just one big lie.
I enjoy Coco Reef and I’ve been there on numerous occasions over the last few years. It is not the fanciest or biggest hotel but definately one of Bermudas hidden gems especially if you want to go for a quiet drink. However, I’ve never noticed a second restaurant on the property. I might have to snoop around a bit more.
