Brothers Charged: Assault Using Golf Club

March 29, 2012

Brothers Makonnen Lowe [26] and Quan Lowe [24] were remanded into custody this morning [Mar.29] after facing the indictable charge of causing grievous bodily harm to their mother’s ex-boyfriend.

The brothers faced a second indictable charge of possessing an offensive weapon and using that weapon – a golf club – to unlawfully cause harm to the alleged victim. Because the charges are indictable, they must be tried in Supreme Court and neither brother was required to enter a Plea.

Before deciding on bail or jail, Senior Magistrate Archie Warner was told that the outline allegations were that the two brothers, along with others not yet before the Court, were alleged to have beaten the victim such that he required stitches and hospital care. The beating was said to have occurred on Monday March 26th 2012.

The Senior Magistrate ordered that the brothers must remain in custody until April 12th 2012 when they re-appear for Mention. Neither brother was represented by legal counsel although Duty Counsel Leopold Mills did put forward an argument for granting release on bail. The Senior Magistrate took into account that the matter was still under active police investigation and ordered remand.

  3. smh says:

If they beat the moms ex there has to be a reason. Any son would protect their mom. Stay strong guy hug and kisses

  4. Crazy woman says:

Come on Senior Magistrate, now IF the ex-boyfriend just happened to be brutalising the mother, then hell yeah, he needs to be taught a lesson that “little boy, you can’t do that”.

  5. Defending Momma says:

I wonder if these guys just gave him a dose of what he’d been dishing out to their Momma? If the did, they deserve a medal rather than steel bracelets.

  6. M.T. Pockets says:

Sounds like the posters here agree with 6 against 1. Not very fair odds really. 6 guys with golf clubs against 1 guy. Regardless of what he might have done, does it take 6 men to take him down? That’s the difference from the good old days, back then one guy punches another guy, end of story. But today, the more the merrier. Damn cowards!

    • So! says:

I would fight 20 men against 1 if someone harmed my mother. No mercy when it comes to her.

  11. tricks are for kids says:

@ M.T. Pockets if the Victim is who I think it is then serves him right..whilst you might think its cowardly being 6 against 1 I am here to tell you that it’s more cowardly for a man to mistreat a woman….if it were me..my two sons and their boys (who call me “moms”) would have done the same thing…

  12. fed up..... says:

MY MY WELL I KNO THE TWO OF THEM VERY GOOD , AND I KNO THAT IT WAS DONE FOR GOOD CAUSE , LOVE U MY SURVIVOR KEEP UR HEAD UP AUNT B IS GOT U……

  13. Fiat Lux says:

The way I see it is, you’re not much of a man if you need SIX men to beat up ONE and you’re even less of a man if you put your hands on a woman. TWO is enough to get the job done, SIX is just overkill.
