JLT Winter Opti Sailing Series Concludes

The RBYC’s JLT Winter Series concluded on Sunday [Mar.25] with 5 races in the Great Sound in near perfect sailing conditions. The day’s racing was the end of the 2nd Winter Series sponsored by JLT, one of Bermuda’s leading providers of insurance management services.

Steve Arrowsmith, Chairman of JLT Insurance Management was on hand to present the prizes to the winning sailors along with RBYC Rear Commodore Leatrice Roman. A total of 29 sailors took part in the series which began earlier in the month.

Campbell Patton [pictured above] took home his first series victory In the 15 boat Gold Fleet, winning the fourteen race Series 2 with 45 points. Peter Dill was second with 51 points and Matilda Nicholls was third with 70 points.

In the tightly packed 14 boat Silver fleet, George Buckely [pictured below] edged out Adriana Pennruddocke by two points by capturing 3 “bullets” (wins) out of the five races on Sunday. Alice Reeves was a close third after breaking a tie with Thomas Pennruddoke. Both were only 2 points back from second place with 36 points.

The Combined Trophy which bundles both series 1 & 2 and both Gold and Silver fleets was won by Campbell Patton by a comfortable margin over 28 other sailors. Matilda Nicholls was second and Kieran Swan was third.
