Nahki Wells Scores Hat-Trick In Bradford Win
Bermudian athletes continue to excel this weekend, with Nahki Wells scoring a hat-trick to propel his U.K team Bradford City to a 3 – 1 win over Northampton Town today [Apr.14].
He scored his first goal in the 11th minute, his second in the 39th minute and completed the hat-trick scoring his third goal in the 52nd minute.
The Bradford live blog described his second goal by saying, “Wells stoops to flick the ball over his shoulder in a sort of bicycle kick moment to fire in past Kitson’s despairing dive.”
Wells was taken off in the 78th minute, receiving a great reception by the Bradford supporters in attendance. His hat trick was his first as a professional, and the first by a Bradford player in four years.
The game took place at the Sixfields Stadium in front of 5060 fans, and Wells wasn’t the only Bermudian present, with Bermuda’s Freddy Hall serving as a subsitute goal keeper for Northampton.
The 21-year-old former Dandy Town star signed with the U.K. team last year, and recently had his contract extended with Bradford saying, “The Bermudian international has become of the Bantams’ main attacking threats in recent months since breaking into the side towards the end of last year.”

Well done Nahki!!!!!!
Congrats Nahki, keep setting a great example of what hard work can bring.
That’s wassup continue 2 represent us well and congratz on your accomplishments!!
Well done Nahki. I’m sure your parents are very proud of how talented you have become. Keep knocking them in and one day you will be just as good if not better than “The Goat”. Keep up the good work!
Nahki, you remind me of Nanni (man united)
Simply brilliant!
JUST DANDY! WELL DONE NAHKI KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
WELL DONE NAHKI KEEP UP THE HARD WORK, NICE TO SEE YOU LIVING YOUR DREAMS.
Making us proud! What a role model!
Sir Nahki Wells of Pembroke Bermuda is a appropriate title to bestow on such a fine gentleman……i wonder if frankie brewster at pro shop will bring in his bradford jersey cause I want one.
Nahki , Mountbatten is not easily moved to tears .
I seem to recall someone posting sarcastic remarks on Bernews last season about Nahki playing in a “3rd rate English football” team so what was the big deal?!! Well, he’s providing a perfect answer to that kind of negativity in the best way possible – by scoring goals. It’s great to see another extremely talented young Bermudian following in the footsteps of Clyde Best, Sean Goater, and Kyle Lightbourne. We should all be proud of the fact that our tiny Island, the size of an average town, can produce so many successful sportsmen and sportswomen.
Nahki Wells is a credit to his family, his former club (Dandy Town), to Bermuda, and to Bradford City. I’d like to think that the big clubs will come ahunting if he keeps scoring goals at this rate. Keep up the good work Nahki. Congratulations indeed.
I don’t know about sarcasm and negativity as opposed to a statement of fact.
Last season Wells played for Carlisle United a team in the 3rd tier of the English Football Association (aka 3rd rate). While this seasons team, Bradford City, play in the 4th tier (aka 4th rate).
I hope Wells is able to make a living out of and secure his future through football; until then let’s keep our shirts on while he makes a go of it.
Frank
I remember reading a bit of the same stupid types of negative comments. Hats off to this young man. As he cntinues to impress and represent his team well – the bigger teams might start to take notice of him. If not, oh well, at least he is doing something positive. People like FRANK TALK just like to rain on every parade. To mr FRANK TALK – so what if he is starting at the bottom? Teachers, Parents and Mentors spend countless years encourage our youth to shoot for their dreams and if they try hard enough they can accomplish most of them. People like you like to pull others down in order to prevent them from rising above you. Like they say – FRANK TALK – yougot to start at the bottom and work your way up – unless of course you are a grave digger. Nahki – Ive never met you personally but I am cheering for you and wish you well….but even if you never score another goal…you are already a hero to many of our youth. I just wish we could find a way to watch one of you games on local TV.
Its good to see Wells doing well. Well done Wells. LoL!! Keep doing well Wells.
Fabulous!!!!! Congrats!!!!! A great achievement and example of what hard work dedication and believing in yourself can bring keep up the good work. Again Congrats!!!!!
it is so nice to see a young bermudian black man in news for doing something good all the best my brother you make us all feel good
Yes Nahki..”Big things are gwon!’ Well done!!!!
Nahki for national heroes day.
I agree – Nahki, Perozzi, and all of our atheletes that did well at the Carifta Games and other games and events overseaas this year. Also there is the young female Rebecca Faulkenberry that sings on broadway, Collie Budz, Twanee Butterfield, Devane Ratteray and another that has done well on X Factor…sorry I forgot his name. I believe I read somewherethat there is a chance we may see another playing a part in the Lion King in the UK. There are many from all different sports, arts and music and all different backgrounds that we can honor. For our youth to see MANY, MANY young HEREOS that they can identify with (and touch, talk too and ask questions)at once being honored may encourage some to try harder to stay positive, stay away from drugs and realize their dreams. BERNEWS please pass this idea on to our present governemnt if you agree this is a good idea. BERNEWS READERS,
I just hope that the PLP OBA and UBP supporters and haters will see the big picture and get behind it
Why not include the kids that won scholarships.or those that got their Duke of Edinburogh award. head candy strippers…the list goes on. We as Bermudians need to open our eyes and know that its not all doom and gloom. We have some pretty awesome talent around us!
