New Foster Play To Have Bermuda Premiere

April 5, 2012

Award-winning Canadian playwright Norm Foster– a regular fixture on Bermuda’s theatrical scene in recent years — is back to the island with a brand new play which will have its premiere at the Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society’s Daylesford Theatre.

This professional production of “On A First Name Basis” will star Mr. Foster[pictured] — often described as Canada’s master of romantic comedies — and actress Patricia Vanstone. The play tells the story of a very successful novelist and his maid of 28 years.

The novelist suddenly discovers that he knows nothing about this maid and she knows everything about him, and so one evening he makes it his mission to learn all he can about her by engaging her in a real conversation for the first time since he hired her.

The things that come to light as a result of this conversation are at once surprising, funny, and moving.

“On A First Name Basis” will run at Daylesford from May 14 through 19.
