Victoria Fiddick Wins Gold Medal In Finland

Bermuda resident Victoria Fiddick claimed victory in the 2012 World Masters Indoor Championships in Finland, winning the 8km cross country race. Ms Fiddick ran in two feet of snow and ice on what she called a “roller coaster four lap course” to claim the gold medal.

Susan Ridley of the UK won the silver medal, with Piedad Rodriquez of Spain winning bronze. Ms Fiddick also ran the 3000m indoors a day and a half later, where she picked up a a fourth place finish. Ms Fiddick said she was hoping for a medal in that event also, but having run the 8km there was “nothing in the legs.”

The 2012 World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor was held April 3-8, 2012 in Jyväskylä, Finland. The meet featured athletes from all over the world ranging in aged 35 and up.

    Congrats Victoria Fiddick! That is a great accomplishment and I could just imagine how those legs felt but to go out a run another long race after the 10km you’re a hero.
