Dandy Town Hornets captured the 56 edition of the FA Cup when they trounced North Village Rams 5-2 in the final at the National Sports Centre.

A game wrap-up from the BFA said, “Hornets dominated from the outset and before the human eye could blink they were ahead 3-nil. Thanks to Lynn Tucker in the 15 minute, Seion Darrell followed up four minutes later in the 19 minute and Raymond Beach in the 30 minutes. At half-time Hornets were ahead 3-0. By all accounts it would have been a miracle by Rams performance for a comeback against the Hornets.

“The second-half showed no difference from the Rams. Hornets continued to pile on the attack as they looked to score in double figures. Hornets had plenty of opportunities to blow the game wide open however they were unable to convert. In the 63 minute of play team captain Raymond Beach made it 4-0, putting the game out of reach.

“Rams finally made the score sheet in the 72nd minute, when Keishen Bean scored from a well taken low free kick to make it 4-1. Hornets stuck again, from their ever reliable forward Damon Ming as he provided his club with another four goal lead, 5-1 with less than 10 minutes remaining. Meanwhile, Village pulled one back but it was too little to late from Ralph Bean Jr. to make it 5-2.

“In the end, Hornets had Rams number this year. Hornets won the league title, while Rams were runners up, they defeated Rams in the Dudley Eve final 1-0, and now the FA Cup finals 5-2.

“For Dandy Town Hornets, this is their third FA Cup title. They last captured the glory nine years ago during the 2003/04 season. The final score surely does not reflect the outcome of the game. Hornets had more than their share of golden opportunities to win by six goals.”
