Football: Bermuda Hogges Lose 5 – 1 In New York

The Bermuda Hogges started their USL Premier Development League five game road trip with a defeat at the City Park Stadium in New York, losing 5 – 1 to the Westchester Flames last night [June 2].

The Westchester Flames went in front in the 14th minute when David Panchano scored, Michael deFonte doubled the lead four minutes before the break.

Jake Keegan made it 3 – 0 to the home team with a goal in the 51st minute, Keishen Bean pulled a goal back for the Bermuda Hogges in the 61st minute taking a pass from Zeiko Lewis to score the Hogges third goal of the season.

Keegan restored the Westchester Flames three goal lead with his second goal of the game in the 68th minute and then two minutes later Keagan completed his hat-trick as the Westchester Flames pick up their first win of the season, while the Bermuda Hogges are anchored at the foot of the Mid Atlantic Division Standings.

    Some of our coaches our dillusioned into thinking that the most important part of the game is technical ability.
    As if you couldn’t teach technical skills to a ten-year-old.
    A big part of the individual understanding is overlooked.
    There seems to be the belief that for Bermuda to compete on a high-level, only the most skilled players should be selected and molded.
    And hence, you quite often see ten attack-minded players on the field.
    Often time eight of the ten men outfield are forwards.
    Soft.
    I could grab up a select team of ballas, all Bermudian,some practice, and hand slams to the Hogges.
