52-Yr-Old Man Tasered, Subdued & Arrested

June 21, 2012

[Updated] At approximately 10am this morning [June 21] an incident occurred in the area outside the Magistrates.Court building in which the police were seen to subdue a man after deploying a Taser.

The man was seen swinging what appeared to be a metal pole, and was heard repeatedly shouting at the police saying “come and get me, come and get me” as well as screaming out what sounded like obscenities.

The police attempted to arrest the man, and in the course of doing so used the Taser on him. He fell to the ground, was subdued by the police, before being handcuffed and walked to the police station. We have asked the police for an official statement on this matter, and will update as able.

Update 3.32pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 10am on Thursday, June 21st police officers on duty outside the Dame Lois Browne-Evans building on Court Street in Pembroke were confronted by a 52 year old Devonshire man brandishing a blunt object and behaving in a threatening manner. During the course of his arrest police deployed Taser. He was subsequently taken to Hamilton Police Station and a court appearance is anticipated.”

This video is a stupid post. Can we see the footage from the taser when his dumb ass got dropped like a bag of cement?

  2. Duh says:

    Lol! Gotcha

  3. observer says:

well he told em come get him lol

    • Ryan says:

Agreed–he asked for what he got. And the dumb women commenting “it don’t take all of that” really need a reality check; once you threaten an officer, they are in their rights to subdue you by any means necessary.

      • Just Me says:

I think the problem people have is the way the police ‘subdue’ you once the situation is under control. If he’s on the ground no longer resisting, there’s no need to put their knee in his back while twisting his arms/wrists which is exactly what they were doing. It is a known fact that when you resist the police, they teach you a little lesson by making your arrest as uncomfortable as possible. I’m not condoning what the man did, and I agree that he should be thankful that all he got was a tasing, but the police do go too far sometimes…the man is whining in pain-he’s not resisting or a threat so I agree that it ‘doesn’t take all of that’; they’re just trying to teach him a painful lesson.

        • Just Me says:

BTW, there was a case recently in the U.S. where a man was ‘acting up’, the police arrived and roughed him up because he was ‘resisting arrest.’ It turned out the man was a diabetic and was having blood sugar issues which made him delusional or whatever. The police profusely apologized and I’m sure felt terrible. Incidents like that have happened many times, including in Bermuda, where it turns out that a medical issue is causing a person’s behaviour.

Of course, the police still have to subdue the person but there’s no need to be so rough about it. People don’t start shouting and brandishing metal rods for no reason and he may not have necessarily been drunk/high or a general menace to society…there could be tons of reasons for his actions. Even if someone is mentally ill, it’s just that-an illness, and the police need to keep that in mind and treat them with some compassion. That’s somebody’s son/brother/father laying there.

Listen to the women asking why, why, why?? Why are they putting their 2 cents into?

    • Joe Public says:

What a dumb woman, he should have hit her with the pipe then she would have screamed “taze that bast#$”.

  5. navin johnson says:

Tase me Bro Tase me…..I think that’s what he said….

  6. Lennie says:

In the US or UK he would have been dropped by two bullets, so he’s lucky “they took all dat” and not what should have happened

  7. Victor says:

Last I checked, everyone is entitled to freedom of speech. So what he was saying “Come get me” That’s not threatening enough for the force that was used against him by more than one officer. Some of them cops over exert their lil jobs.

    • Harry P says:

Brandishing a metal pole isn’t threatening force? Hmmmmmmm is it any wonder……

    • Tyrone says:

Victor you live in a dream world….

    • Baltic Fury says:

Haaaaaa, you serious bro? Victor, you should be careful my man. You brandish a metal pole, shouting outside a police station and swinging it. You goin to jail boy, and I’m glad, I don’t want those people on the streets.

  8. VJ says:

They should have been made to move along or be arrested for obstruction. People need to mind their biz and let the police do their job. I’ll bet they didn’t even see what happened in the beginning, they just saw the police “beating” up on some “poor” guy….

  9. Terri says:

    What a stupid jerk… *smh*

  10. Nonsense says:

He came swinging a metal pole and telling the police come get him! so that’s what they did.

The stupid women in the back need to move the hell on, talking about why and it don’t take all that, yea it did! Get over it and move on.

Sometimes the police do go overboard but in this case they didn’t. I feel bad for them when they are actually doing a good job cause you then have dumb people talking about ‘why’! They are damned if they do damned if they don’t!

  11. Amazed says:

Now there is a vibe and we are not feeling it!

  12. Gotcha says:

Bermuda is full of stupid people, including the woman, should have dropped her too with a few Zapps!
