Bermuda Hogges Defeat Westchester Flames

July 16, 2012

The Bermuda Hogges defeated the Westchester Flames 3 – 1 yesterday [July 15], with the local team playing with a heavy heart having just attended the funeral service for Bermuda international Tumaini Steede, who was killed in a traffic accident earlier this month.

Playing at the BAA field the Bermuda Hogges — who wore the Bermuda National Team kit — went into the half time break with a 1 – 0 lead after Antwan Russell scored in the 12th minute.

Troy Hall Jr. in goal for the Bermuda Hogges was called upon to make a point blank save in the 24th minute after Richard Heredia beat his marker, but Hall was equal to the task palming the ball into the air before collecting it on the second attempt.

The Bermuda Hogges doubled the lead in the 57th minute when Russell converted from the penalty spot, five minutes later Damico Coddington scored to make the 3-0. Giovanni Esposito pulled a goal back for the Westchester Flames in injury time but the Bermuda Hogges still walked away with the 3 – 1 victory.

The Bermuda Hogges season concluded the season having won four games, drew two and lost ten.
