Police Divers Search Waters Off Causeway
The Police Marine Unit was spotted this evening [July 19] searching the waters off the Causeway in St George’s. There had been a noticeable police presence in the area from approximately 5pm, with officers seen walking up and down appearing to be searching the water’s edge.
At approximately 6.30pm a police boat arrived and officers proceeded to search the waters from the boat, before a police diver entered the water a short time later. Evening commuters making their way across the Causeway slowed down to watch the police work
Unofficial reports suggest that that a member of the public saw something in the water, and the police were unable to find anything searching from land, so brought in the marine unit to investigate further. We will update with any additional information if able.
This is where a helicopter would come in handy for the Police and Regiment. As expensive as it may be to maintain, Bermuda should own at least one.
I agree..
i couldnt agree with you more. didnt we used to have one
Sounds good on paper, Gov’t can’t maintain any of the ferries, buses etc they have now.
Don’t blame the government blame the ministers it all comes down to them to bring up the idaes and do the paper work and if gov. finds that they have valuable reasons and the ministers look like they know what they’re doing without the public there to help them do their job properly and furthremore they can be trusted with the money then we can move forward to a whole new way of living and not going broke but the idea about a helicopter just might take a while…
“We” can’t afford gas for the boats. How are we supposed to buy fuel for the heli let alone buy/lease it?
But yes, it would be pretty useful.
Den ver um sposed to hide my veed trees to?
Bermuda itself never had a helicopter- an individual owned one, which he sold yrs later….
OMG a helicopter would be so useful to bermuda!!!
and noisy, and expensive and will most likely always be used to search for marijuana, as in the 2-3 plants someone has on their property, which would be a HUGE waste of my tax money
I am always so amazed how insensitive you people become, and much you always find a way to turn every story into a political issue. The issue at hand is the police search perhaps in hopes of finding someones loved one. Lets not forget before these ferries came online we had no A/C on the old ones neither did the buses. Could it be that the only mistake the goverment made was to allow these luxuries and now we feel a sense of entitlement??? If you as Bermudians got off your A$$E$ and contributed to change maybe then you will see a difference about the things you sit and complain about daily.
Bermudians just love b!tch and moan about everything
And people think they cant multi task!
a chopper with floats would be great for police and ambulance service – could get people to the hospital in minutes when there are marine emergencies and crooks trying to escape on bikes could be tracked with infra-red cameras.
A small chopper would cost a fraction of what was spent (and still is) on buying and maintaining the huge police boat!
Helicopter, cheaper airfares, more flights……..blah blah blah…bermuda needs more than just a chopper people. Let’s get real and focus on the more important things like poverty and hard times!!
the whole story became about helicopters,,,,too funny
i wonder what the police were looking for
They’re looking for Rudy Smith. Still missing.
no update? what did they find? what were they supposedly looking for?
