14-Yr-Old Charged After Assault Puts Man In ICU

August 9, 2012

A 14-year-old schoolboy appeared in Family Court this afternoon [Aug 9] facing charges in connection with the Rambling Lane attack this weekend that left a man in the hospital’s ICU.

Represented by lawyer Charles Richardson, he will re-appear in October 2012 for further action. In the meantime, the Family Court  granted him $2,000 bail with one like surety and has placed him under a 5:30pm to 7:30am curfew and ordered that he make himself available to police on demand, stay away from the complainant and his family, and not commit any offences whilst on bail.

His father, who was sitting beside the boy, asked if the curfew meant that he could still take him out as long as he, his father, was with him. The decision was that he could not. The curfew meant that the 14-year-old had to be at home and inside his home during those hours.

He is the third person to be charged after Kyle Daniels Smith, 17, and Sergio Woolridge-Robinson, 21. The media is generally not permitted to report names of juveniles appearing in Family Court. The teenager sat silently through the proceedings.
