Cricket: Willow Cuts Retain Western County Cup
Willow Cuts retained the Western County Cup, defeating Warwick Workmen’s by 348 runs yesterday [Aug 25] with Malachi Jones scoring of 175 them.
Willow Cuts won the toss and elected to bat first they were bowled all out for 367, they also received 48 penalty runs as Warwick had a slow overrate, pushing the Willow Cuts score up to 415.
Willow Cuts recovered from being 33/4, after Warwick openers Jordan DeSilva and Gary Williams had Warwick in control, however Ricky Hoyte and Malachi Jones came together and stabilized the Willow Cuts innings sharing a 196 run partnership.
Jones was dropped at point off the second delivery he faced, while both batsmen received several lives with catches dropped all around the ground.
Jones went on to top the batting scoring 175, while Hoyte added 93, Warwick captain Daniel Morgan came on late and bowled 3.1-0-33-3, while Williams bowled 9.2-0-44-3
In reply Warwick Workmen’s were bowled all out for 67 falling to a 348 run defeat. Jordan DeSilva was the top scorer with 27, Jermaine Trott was the pick of the Willow Cuts bowlers with figures of 7-2-13-4, while Kavon Fubler bowled 5-1-13-1.
