Bermuda Business Summit Starts Tomorrow
Minister of Business Development and Tourism Wayne Furbert today said that he will host a Bermuda Business Summit tomorrow [Aug 30] at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
With more than 100 attendees the Summit is intended to give an update on Government’s efforts to promote and grow International Business.Premier and Minister of Finance Paula Cox will open the Summit.
Other speakers will cover a range of topics including the recently released National Tourism Plan, the Hamilton Waterfront Development, an update on the Bermuda Business Development Corporation, Asset Management and Islamic Finance.
Minister Furbert said: “This Government continues to work hard to ensure Bermuda weathers the impacts of the global recession. We have put together an impressive panel of speakers and will be engaging in open and frank discussions on how to move Bermuda forward and embrace the opportunities so that the Island continues to be at the forefront of international finance.”
Sounds exciting. What about a plan to make the buses run on time?
Islamic finance , sure . Maybe that will come with a cost . Are we willing to perhaps be a springboard for terrorist funding , will Hamilton be overrun with Turban headed ,arrogant people who refuse to engage and assimilate with Bermuda society ? Will our street’s be filled with women covered from head to toe in all black ? Or is it that we just want to look after their money without them (Muslim’s)having a physical presence .
This has to be the stupidest thing said on here thus far, how the hell would Bermuda support terrorist funding when those who fund terrorist have their accounts frozen…are you stupid or what …cheee kums bi what an idiot, smdh….just plain stupid… go jump off of peak at admiralty house with bricks tied to your hands and feet
@Freakums Bi . I too have the capacity to be as ignorant as you , I choose differently . HSBC with a huge presence in Bermuda , investigated in The United States for laundering hundreds of millions of Mexican drug cartel money .—-. Fact.. Who Knew . I know this is a bit over your head but , they even managed for a while to circumvent FATCA… Get back to me when you’ve completed the lesson of the day .

I now have every reason to dismiss everything you post like the crap that it is . I just couldn’t stand the fact that you are so damn ignorant , so I did you a favor , hopefully to educate . Check out the link .
Stop using the words “global recession” as an excuse all the time – it’s a man-made Bermuda recession created by the dumb ass*s at the PLP!!! You know the amateur idiots who have put this Island $$ 1.5+ BILLION in DEBT over the last 10 years – while they continue to travel, have their own Gov’t funded cars and ALL the other “perks” that the BDA tax payer is paying for!!!
Cox and the PLP hierarchy are taking Bermuda to the cleaners – just like E. Brown did for 4 years!!! Just how **BLIND** are all you PLP supporters???
LIKE!!!
Yet another think tank style forum to make our Leaders look like they are doing something, 2 years of the new “Business Development & Tourism” Ministry and we are still throwing money into talking
I am curious, that group of professionals and permanent secretaries who nod yes and say these forums are a good idea, why dont you just tell the Ministers that it is time to implement the findings of the 15 previous Forums, Meetings, Summits?
or is there a need for the professionals, permanent secretaries and ministers to give the impression they are all busy finiding a solution to growing bermuda’s GDP.
this is really now completely tiring, all this talk
and when we approach you privately we get ignored, post on a blog we are destroying Bermuda
we give up!
How far over budget did the Government go with the following projects, Berkley, TCD, Dame Lois Browne-Evans building, the docks in dockyard? And the list goes on. I won’t scream corruption!!! But one needs to admit at the least that is bad management of public funds. The excuse of a global recession is a farce. I will admit that it does have some impact but it’s not the reason we are in so much debt.
Perhaps the Premier will provide us with the PLP’s plan to pay off the massive debt burden?
Won’t hold me breath.
“Summit is intended to give an update on Government’s efforts to promote and grow International Business”
Should be a VERY SHORT meeting.
