Service Outage Affects Some Phone Customers
[Updated] A service outage at BTC today [Sept 5] is presently affecting some landlines as well as some Digicel cell towers that rely on BTC data links.
A statement from Digicel said: “Digicel Bermuda wishes to inform its customers that calls to BTC landlines are currently being affected by a service outage at BTC. The service outage is also affecting some Digicel cell towers that rely on BTC data links.
“Digicel has been assured by BTC CEO, Eric Dobson, that the problem is being worked on. Digicel wishes to apologise to all customers affected by the BTC service outage and will issue an update once the BTC issue is fully resolved.”
Update 3.03pm: A BTC spokesperson said: “BTC wishes to apologise for the recent service outage that affected some Digicel customers. Service to Digicel has resumed and our network operations team is working to identify the root cause of the problem.”
