Gosh…Another family mourns, my condolences to them, the coming months will be very difficult.

Love you forever shae! Always in my heart. Rest in paradise
Horrible news. The government needs to fix several intersections/stretch of roads, paint the roads, add lighting, give police more cars and more radar/lasers. They should restrict size of motorcycles for males under 30 as their is a common trend of aggressive, impaired driving and excessive speed by them.
Where are the police enforcing speed? Not enough police cars (2-3 per station; ridiculous), never see the cycles, and where is the radar/laser operators?
The streets are dark, lights not working, the paint is faded or worn away, Tee street not traffic lights, Harbour road to thin, cars getting too big and lack of police enforcement and common sense approach to road safety issues! All the traffic jams could be elevated if the government would put in some roundabouts and intersection changes!
I agree that the roads are in serious need of repair, so many potholes and trenching makes riding a motorbike in a straight line very difficult!
More radar isn’t what is needed, that doesn’t work and only serves to fill the coffers for the government. All those idiotic drivers can still drive poorly and likely never get policed for it!
In any case a young fellow has passed away, what caused the accident isn’t mentioned.
CUT THE S#!T ABOUT GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!! The minute they begin repairing roads you’ll probably be one to complain about them wasting tax payers dollars!! Are you 5? Do you really find it necessary that police be monitoring everyones actions 24/7.
Perhaps a simpler solution could be to have everyone on 50CC bikes, even they go well beyond the speed limit!
your a fool mate….everything that was said is right !! The roads are crappy. and are as much to blame as anyone…. there not well lit…No drink driving is enforced ..no speed traps….for the last 10 years you’ve had on average 12 road deaths a year…1 every 4 weeks !! You need golf carts on the roads not bikes…better still… get your Fat A$$ walkin …
R.I.P Shae!!!
Sleep in Peace my man!
RIP Shae.. You will forever be in my heart. Your words of guidance, and discussions that we have had will always be in my heart and my mind.
This is unbelievable how quick you was taken from us. I’ll forever love and remember you. Our angel. :’(
Check this out – I was on a bus last week travelling with my daughter to Hamilton. A bus had stopped in front of us and our driver stopped a car length behind – I noticed our driver leaning away from his window – why??? – a lady in a car over took two cars that stayed behind my bus, nipped in between the two buses and then over took the first bus. We were thinking she was trying to get to the next bus stop to drop off someone… NOOOOOO WAYYYYYY!! Girlfriend with her toddler standing between the two seats continued to drive speedily due West.
Bernews, Aaron Smith was the 8th fatality, so I guess ShaeQuan is the 9th.
You are partly right, as Mr Smith was originally named at the 8th, which has been corrected now. The police explained that Mr Mallory was originally named as the 7th, however that was not correct, so Mr Smith was actually the 7th.
So sad thsi young man has lost his life at such a young age. Condolences to the family.
Everyday in my short commute into Hamilton I still see people talking on their cell phones, small children standing in the seats unrestrained and adults holding infants across their chest in the front seat of the car. This is all illegal but people continue to break the law, and it’s because they can. The worse case is the disrespect people have for the disabled. Why do you contine to park in disabled parking spots that are designated for disabled people? Marketplace in Shelly bay have two disabled parking spots clearly marked but a disabled driver cannot seem to use these spots as they are taken by drivers who are too lazy to park in a regular bay and walk in the shop. Bermudian drivers are the worse and show no respect on our roads.
R.I.P SHAE! You had the biggest heart for everybody! You will be missed! D-TEAM will forever love you!
my deepest sympathies to Shaes family.
someone mentioned about the roads being in disrepair….i for one have a very expensive vehicle (any make of vehicle in bermuda is outrageously expensive)which also has been personalized to my liking at again a considerable cost…so what, its my money that i worked to obtain.
Now my beef is this…i have seen people driving over the line just to get away from uneven trenches(and trenches cover 90% of the public highway) which in turn causes many unwanted collisions…the point is this…my tires cost a mere $275,00 per TIRE…not these cheap azz tires you get for 75-100 bucks…well these trenches have cost me about 1000bucks in the last two years by UNDUE tearing splitting rubbing even rimming….I as well as every other person who licences their vehicle PAY for that ROAD to be PROPERLY SURFACED for SAFETY REASONS!…Hey Mr. ROAD SAFETY…you know who you are… makin all these ignorant requirements …when these vehicles leave their place of origin they are deemed SAFE for human consumption ok…REVISED DRIVING STANDARDS is definitely needed. Govt’s excuses as to why the roads are in such disrepair are unacceptable….monies are allocated for that by way of LICENCING…wheres my money that i pay every year along with the rest of bermudas vehicular population..?
Every Building in Town PAYS BIG MONEY to be there yet our city streets are deplorable oh and dont compare us to ANYwhere else…coz i remember Beautifully BlackTop roadways on my Island that is beauty clean black and lined…BUT NOOOOO i gotta buy a freakin LandRover just to get from a-b…ahhh dats it…wheewww tyed now
oh one more thing …there are a lot of sleeping drivers out there trust me coz im a road rager…what pi$$es me off are the ones that crawl up to a green light then it turns yellow n red and they go right along through but I gotta stop coz i don’t run lights, i don’t need to, green means go ..get my drift.
FIX MY ROADS!!
AND
SAVE A LIFE!!
First off my condolences to the Astwood family. I have 5 kids of my own and hope and pray that I never have to go through what you are going through right now. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Secondly, Keepin it real … For real has brought up some good comments. Where exactly does our thousands go that are spent on licensing our vehicles?? The car that I have I would not say is as big as an SUV and definitely would not do as much damage however I pay the same price as they do!! Being in a car and hitting the bumps and pot holes on our roads is scary, can you imagine being on a bike? Something needs to be done and there are so many out there without jobs that would rather get paid something over nothing, and am sure would be willing to help fix our roads. Come on Bermuda lets take back our beautiful island and save some lives in doing so!
RIP Mr. Astwood and my prayers go out to your family and friends.
@Keepin’ it Real…4Real – I know what you mean. I drive along the Northshore each day. When travelling East along the Northshore (between the roadabout and Lloyal Hill for example) there are parts of the road where there are so much tall weeds, cane grass growing and overgrowth from the trees that cars are driving 2-4 feet further to the right to avoid it. Another example is the warning sign just before the Bus Stop on the right. There is so much growth that the sign is hidden from view. And that is just one short stop. THe problem does not seem to be as bad going West but I guess that is because much of the land on that side is privately owned and there are more walls and gates and therefore less tres. Collectors Hill, St. Marks and Verdmont Road is also no better. Last time I think we had Public Works killing the weeds and sweeping up here was hmmmmm, let me see…..just before the last Election – I think.
R.I.P. Shae.♥

To everyone ranting about the state of our roads:
There is nothing wrong with South Road in the vicinity of where this accident occurred. Easy and safe to navigate at normal speeds.
