Police Gymkhana To Be Held On Saturday

The 2012 Police Week will kick off with the Police Gymkhana this Saturday, 6th October at the Police Field in Prospect from 10am – 4pm. After a 22 year hiatus, the Bermuda Police Service resurrected the Gymkhana in 2010, and the event normally includes different types of cycling races, police motorbike displays and more.

The various service heads taking part in the ‘Big Boys Race’ at last year’s Gymkhana:

The 2012 Police Week theme is “Building Partnerships for a Safer Community” and events will take place from Saturday, 6th October to Saturday, 13th October. This year the police are celebrating 133 years of service to Bermuda.

The week will also include an Inter Faith Service at Cedarbridge Academy Cafeteria on Sunday, an Awards Ceremony at Ruth Seaton James Auditorium on Monday, Police Displays & Seniors Tea at Police Headquarters on Tuesday, Commissioner for a Day & Beat the Retreat on Wednesday, Sports Day at Police Field on Thursday, and a Memorial Ceremony & BBQ on Friday.

    It would also be nice to resurrect the Bermuda Institute of Advanced Motorists car gymkhana which did not involve any racing but did have skill events such as parking, judgment, knowledge tests, tire changing etc.
