16-Yr-Old Admits Assaulting Another Teenager

December 1, 2012

Appearing yesterday [Nov 30] before Magistrate Archie Warner, 16-year-old Tristen Wilson admitted assaulting another teenager and was ordered to come back in January 2013 for sentencing.

Wilson pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting a 15-year-old male who was waiting at a bus stop near Beacon Hill Road in Sandys in August 2012.

Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told the Court that Wilson — on a bike and carrying a pillion passenger — had ridden past the 15-year-old,  turned around and come back and asked the victim: “What are you doing up here?” The 15-year-old was attacked, with the attack said to involve punching, and kicking him once he was on the ground.

The Court then heard about the 16-year-old defendant’s past, hearing that he had previous issues and at one point spent some time on remand as his father refused to sign his bail hoping some time in custody might teach him a lesson.

Wilson had written a letter of apology to the Court, and the teenager’s father also addressed the Court. He explained steps the family is, and has, taken to try and get him on the right track. The father told the Magistrate that the family had found a school overseas which they thought might help him, and were planning to send him there.

The Senior Magistrate said that he would order a Social Inquiry Report and Wilson’s $2,000 bail was extended until his sentencing next year.  The second defendant is 15-years-old and is being dealt with in the Juvenile Court system and cannot be reported on.

So, Bernews, I am confused. What 15 year old defendent? The story is not clear. I thought the 15 year old was the victim. Did the 16 year old and his pillion passenger attack the other boy, or was the victim also charged with something?

    • Bernews says:

There were two defendants — 16 & 15 — and the victim was also 15. We tried to update it a bit for clarity..

looks like all of Mr. S Coopers policy’s have failed.
Expect more violent incidents like this involving children.
all resulting from lack of true discipline in the home because the Parent’s in Bermuda can no longer use what these rude little buggers need.
THE STRAP ——– Plenty of licks
The good book [ Holy Bible ]says ‘ spare the rod spoil the child’
once this is removed than they the children shell case fire upon us.
    so expect more.
