The section of Reid Street between King Street and Court Street has been re-opened to normal traffic flow and parking after a structural assessment of the old Canadian Hotel building was completed.
On Wednesday [Dec 19] evening, twenty-five firefighters battled a blaze that broke out at the old Canadian Hotel on Reid Street. The building was first opened as hotel in 1918, later became a rooming house, and has been unoccupied for the past few years.
A police spokesperson said: “The section of Reid Street between King Street and Court Street has been re-opened to normal traffic flow and parking after a further structural assessment of the old Canadian Hotel building damaged by fire Wednesday night was completed. However, inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“The Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience while the necessary inspections were carried out.”
