Youth Tourism Board Hosting Student Reception

December 27, 2012

On Friday, December 28th, the Bermuda Youth Tourism Board [YTB], in conjunction with the Bermuda Department of Tourism [BDOT], will host their first public event, a Student Reception to assist the BDOT with promoting Bermuda as a Spring Break destination. The reception is an informational session for college students that will offer insight about the Youth Ambassador Programme, 2013 Spring Break events and Incentive programme.

In June 2012, the YTB was formed to work in conjunction with the Bermuda Tourism Board to help develop innovative ideas that would revitalize Bermuda’s tourism product. Its main focus is to deliver a number of objectives set out in the National Tourism Plan. The YTB consists of a group of diverse young professionals who are committed to redefining the visitor experience and passionate about repositioning Bermuda as a preferred island destination.

Daniel Reece, Chairman of the YTB, said, “The YTB, as well as the Bermuda Board, recognize that in order for the National Tourism Plan to be successfully implemented, support must be sourced from all stakeholders involved, especially the community at large. The members and I are excited and ready to work. We want to be a conduit for young people and the community in general to present ideas regarding our tourism product. This Spring Break Launch, Student Reception is just one of many projects we hope to develop.”

Maxwell Burgess, Chairman of the Bermuda Tourism Board, said, “The Youth Board was formed to obtain the perspective of our young people. They know the audience better than any of us and more importantly, they know how to communicate with them. I am very pleased that the Youth Board has taken the initiative to host this event, in conjunction with BDOT, as a means to further promote the BDOT Spring Break Programme. I am confident that it will be a success.”

The Spring Break Launch Reception will begin at 6:30pm at Docksider Pub & Restaurant and will feature DJ Keem, complimentary refreshments and special give-a-ways for everyone.
