hoc130105The Bermuda vs Delaware Valley game at the National Sports Center kicked off on Saturday [Jan 5] with Bermuda attacking hard from the whistle and scoring in the 5th minute, when Laura West-Burt found the back of the net.

Delaware handled the pressure imposed by the Bermuda team well and were unlucky not to level after 10 minutes with some tight passing and winning 50/50 balls.

After 15 minutes, Bermuda took advantage of the subs and changed up to 5 players, this resulted in Bermuda’s lead doubling with Megan Troake scoring a field goal in 22nd minute. She scored again the 25th from a Short Corner as Bermuda took a 3 – 0 lead at the half.

After the break Delaware Valley took charge of the game in the first 7 minutes with some very fast pace shown by both their wings and were denied goals by Bermuda’s strong and more experienced defense. Against the run of play Bermuda were lucky to go 4-0 up with West-Burt once again showing some lovely hand and stick co-ordination in front of goal.

Umpires Emma Simmons and Donnie Simmons awarded a Penalty Stroke to Delaware in the 60th minute and Kelsey Zook stepped up for her team superbly put Delaware on the score board.

Bermuda – not to be outdone – once again found the back board courtesy of Troake once again scoring a field goal to complete her hat-trick.
