BFA’s Mark Wade Appointed To CFU Committee

BFA Executive Member Mark Wade has been appointed as a member of the Caribbean Football Union Development & Technical Committee until 2016, the BFA said today [Jan 30].

A spokesperson said, “The BFA is pleased to pass on the announcement by the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) of the appointment of BFA Executive Member – Mark Wade as a member of the CFU Development & Technical Committee. CFU is the 25 country regional union that encompasses the islands of the Caribbean. The term of appointment is until 2016.

“The chair of the Committee is Luis Hernandez Herra (Cuba) and other members are Avanell Morton (BVI), Rignaal Francisca (Curacao), Everton Tomlinson (Jamaica), Joselyn Germe (Martinique), Alastair Edwards (St. Kitts) and Venold Coombs (St. Vincent).

“The goal of the Committee is to improve and ensure the effective planning and execution of all of the Union’s competitions through offering advice to the Executive Committee by undertaking the development of the format, venues and draws for CFU tournaments. Additional responsibilities are as follows:

  • a) development of the game in the Caribbean;
  • b) draw up recommendations on national team and club issues, football image, and other football-related matters which have an impact on the game in the Caribbean;
  • c) act as ambassadors/representatives of CFU at senior, youth and grassroots activities, courses and conferences;
  • d) produce different technical reports for all CFU tournaments;
  • e) draw up recommendations regarding possible modifications to the existing competitions and to the regulations governing these competitions;
  • f) assist the Executive Committee in the process of selecting the host association(s) of the CFU competitions;
  • g) monitors the qualifying and final rounds of all of the CFU male competitions;
  • h) assists in defining the draw principles and monitors the preparation and conducting of draws; and
  • i) advise on the format for CONCACAF qualifying competitions in the Caribbean.

“Mark has been an elected member of the BFA Executive for several years now. He is the chair of the Player Development Committee which has the responsibility of technical and coaching development in Bermuda. He hails from his domestic club PHC where he was a player and winning coach and is currently a vice-president of the Club.

“He is involved at all levels of development at the Club. He has also played for various Bermuda National teams. He has represented the BFA at a FIFA Women’s Football Development Seminar in Germany.

“Mark has been a leading telecommunications systems professional for the duration of his career.

“The BFA and Bermuda can be proud that Mark has been appointed as a member of the Committee as it continues to show that Bermuda football officials are respected for our professionalism and administration of the game. It also demonstrates that our BFA officials represent football at the CFU, CONCACAF and FIFA levels.”

  1. Nice guy .But BFA cannot organize the pee wee league yet. Sad days for football.

    The Pee Wee league is organised by the clubs who have U6 programs becuase that is the way they want it and any club can join in the fun. Mr. Wade personally does the schedule and has done it for over 5 years. Why is this announcement a sad day for football? Please expand on your post beacuse its not making sense.
