Consign For Cash At Warwick Clothing Mart

January 18, 2013

The Warwick Clothing Mart is coming up next month, with the bargain-hunters paradise having been a Warwick Academy tradition since Lady Sharpe and Pam Kempe began it 57 years ago.

Coordinator Lynne Fisher, who has volunteered her time for many years, said: “Once a year everyone has a chance to clear out closets and make some extra cash. We accept clean clothing in excellent condition. As I always say, bring them in just as you would like to buy them. Perhaps ‘gently used’ is the right term!

“Small appliances in good working order, kitchen equipment, toys, games, linens, silver, china, painting, bikes can also be consigned and baby equipment is always popular.

“Brand new shoes can be consigned and other shoes will be priced at the discretion of the Committee. Books, tapes, DVD’s, bags, hats and belts, are donated,” said Ms Fisher. “You never know what treasures you may find as some lucky buyers in past years have even found antiques.”

The sale is open to the public on Wednesday, February 13 from 11:00am-5:00pm and will run for the rest of that week from 12 noon until 5:00pm. On Saturday, February 16 there will be the half-price sale from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm. The following day on Sunday, February 17th from 3.00pm -5pm will see the $5 a bag sale when virtually everything disappears.

Volunteers are urgently required and greatly welcomed. Help is needed almost every day during the short period starting from the consignment receiving days on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10th right through until the end of the bag sale on February 17th.
