Bermuda Awarded Best Digital Jurisdiction
Minister of Economic Development Dr. Grant Gibbons today announced that UK magazine World Commerce Review has named Bermuda the winner of the Best Digital Jurisdiction Award for 2013.
The World Commerce Review Awards are recognised as the principal indicators of professional conduct and excellence.
Dr. Gibbons commented: “I would like to congratulate Bermuda’s ICT sector who have been instrumental in Bermuda receiving this award. The Ministry of Economic Development will continue to support the advancement of ICT and the digital economy to maintain the excellence for which Bermuda has been recognised.”
In naming Bermuda the Best Digital Jurisdiction, the selection panel took into account product innovation, on-going customer support and best practice criteria as well as a continuing commitment to deploying the best technology and practice to enhance productivity. Other factors considered included government policy, strategy and practices. In addition, forward planning and corporate social responsibility were seen as key areas for the award committee.
Bermuda has been known as the ‘Wired Island’ for well over a decade. In the last four Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) digital economy studies, Bermuda has consistently been ranked in the top 22 countries in the world for e-readiness.

LOL, don’t believe your own PR.
Bermuda Government is a financial sponsor of the World Commerce Review.
LOL whaaaaaaaaaaaa? and I was thinking, best in what? Overpriced and inferior product/services? LOLOLOLOLOL
All this despite relatively slow Internet access and five fold prices compared to other jurisdictions? The one thing we (the public) are ready for is prices that are 80% lower than they are presently and speed that is 5 times higher. But are providers ready?
