Photos: Final Bicycle Works Points Series Race

Fat Tire Massive ran the eighth and final Race of the Bicycle Works points series on Sunday [Mar 10] at Lodge Point Park. The brand new 1.2 mile course was designed this year. Huge efforts by Chris Roque of Spar Yard Industries, members of FTM, and the Bermuda Hunt Club have resulted in an incredible winding series of trails.

Fit for walking or riding, the course snakes between abandoned buildings and around the park lagoon through tree tunnels. The rainy conditions created another challenge as the corners became slippery with mud.

Despite the blustery, rainy conditions, a strong field of 48 riders turned out to enjoy the route.
In the Under 13 Males, Alexander Miller led the pack home with Adrian McPhee second and Manning Smith grabbing the final Podium spot.

Under 13 Females saw Cassy McPhee as the uncontested winner. Results for 13-16 males were Christian Oatley first and Alex Bordage second. 13-16 females experienced drama when Jessie Godfrey’s pedal dropped off. James Holloway quickly stepped in and lent her “FAT LARRY” and she finished in style. Alyssa Rowse took third place. Tristan Narraway grabbed second and line honors went to Victoria Davis.

Thomas Dunstan, Craig Ferguson and Jason Thomas placed first, second and third respectively in the Male Novice Class with less than 20 seconds between them. Brittany Uddin was the lone Novice female and completed her laps comfortably. In Female B class, Ashley Kirkpatrick completed the course to grab 25 points for the win.

In Male B, the competition was heated with several riders swapping position as the race progressed. Ultimately Daniel Oatley was able to fight off the opposition with Hans Hirschi second and Andrew Hern third.

In Male A, the contestants blazed around the course for eight gruelling laps pushing the poor traction to the limit. Once again, Mark Hatherley was the eventual winner. Second place was taken by Jean Sebastian Lareau with Deshi Smith securing third.
