Flight Diverts, Child In Stable Condition In ICU

A child is in stable condition of the Intensive Care Unit after falling ill on a Virgin Atlantic flight en route from Miami to the UK. The flight diverted to the island just past 9pm last night [Mar 31]. According to an online flight tracker, the flight departed Bermuda just past midnight.

A police spokesperson said, “At approximately 9:05pm on Sunday first responders attended LF Wade International Airport regarding a flight diversion to Bermuda for medical reasons.

“Virgin Atlantic flight #76 (departed Miami and bound for Manchester, U.K.) containing about 315 passengers landed safely in Bermuda as a result of a sick child on board the plane.

“The child was transported to KEMH were she is presently in stable condition in the ICU. The remaining passengers were placed in local accommodations and they are expected to leave the island sometime today or tomorrow.”
