Visitor In Critical Condition After Cycle Collision

[Updated] Motorists travelling in the South Road, Paget area tonight [Apr 11] were diverted away from the scene of an accident that occurred at approximately 7.30pm.

Police and emergency personnel attended the scene near Harvey Road where the accident involving a car and a motorcycle took place. The male rider was transported by ambulance to King Edward Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said, “At approximately 7:33pm Thursday evening, first responders were dispatched to a two vehicle road traffic collision located at South Road, Paget; near the junction of Harvey Road.

“Early reports suggest that a male cycle rider was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call 295-0011″.

Update 10.41pm: The police said the rider is believed to be a 26 year old male visitor.

Update Apr 12, 12.08pm: The rider is in critical condition in the ICU. A police spokesperson said, “The motorcycle rider, believed to be a 26 year old male visitor, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.”
